Adhocracy 2024 — Curator Mentorships

Expressions of Interest for the Adhocracy Curator Mentorships are now open. These are paid opportunities.

Who are we looking for?

We want to hear from South Australian-based early-career artists, curators and programmers who would benefit from mentorship. You can define ‘early career’ for yourself; for example you may be an artist who is branching into curatorial and programming fields, or you may be an emerging artist in the first few years of your career.

Ideally you will have attended Adhocracy and be familiar with Vitals’ work and values, however this is not essential.

Key information

The selected people will meet with Vitalstatistix Creative Producer  Jennifer Greer Holmes and Adhocracy Co-Curator Jason Sweeney  to discuss their process of developing the program for the fifteenth anniversary of Adhocracy in 2024.

The selected curators will be notified by 17 June and will meet with the co-curators no more than three times (online or in-person) over the following months. The selected curators will receive a sitting fee of $750 each and will be expected to participate at Adhocracy by negotiation with the co-curators.

If you haven’t attended Adhocracy before we recommend you check out the 2023, 2022 and 2021 sites, and our retrospective documentary

FAQs & Advice for Curator Mentorship

Do I need to reside in South Australia to apply for this?

Yes.

How much time is involved?

Approximately three hours of online meetings, with a small amount of preparation before each meeting, as well as attendance at Adhocracy for a few hours each day, followed by a short report.
This opportunity will suit people with other commitments and is flexible to suit you.

Early Career curator applicants will be notified of the outcome by 17 June.

We encourage applications from people who are from marginalised backgrounds and we will work with you to provide tailored support should you require it.
