Performance-maker and conversationalist Emma Beech joins Vitalstatistix as our artist-in-residence in 2017, working in our Shopfront Studio throughout the year.
Vitalstatistix’s Shopfront Studio artist for 2017
In 2017 Vitalstatistix launched our new Shopfront Studio artist-in-residence program. Each year the selected artist/s will work from our Shopfront Studio (once a workers’ cooperative bank at the Waterside Workers Hall), developing their own projects and practice, and connecting with Port Adelaide through local social engagement processes and as an ambassador for Vitals.
To launch this exciting new initiative we welcome performance-maker and conversationalist Emma Beech. Her residency will build on Life is Short and Long, a theatre show that explored crisis in the seemingly disparate locations of Port Adelaide, Wirrabara and Barcelona, which premiered with Vitals and Country Arts SA in 2016.
Feeling that, actually, something new if not somewhat globally familiar, is happening in Port Adelaide, Emma will place her arts practice in a longer conversation with the community and changing cultural landscape of Port Adelaide.
