A Satirist’s Journey is a personal account of Bryan’s journey into political satire. From the grim educational pickings of working class Port Adelaide in the 1950s and 60s, Bryan escaped from high school at 15 and went on to become one of Australia’s finest satirists. Bryan’s journey has echoed that of the late Spike Milligan, who said of his life “I have nothing organised, so nothing can go wrong”.
In this highly amusing and deeply poignant yarn/performance, hear about Bryan’s early influences, his life in the music industry and how he created his two endearing characters, Roly Parks and the outrageous doyen of The Melbourne Club, Sir Murray Rivers QC. We also learn how Bryan and John Clarke began their enduring creative partnership.
A Satirist’s Journey concludes with a hilarious interview via satellite with Bryan interviewing Sir Murray Rivers QC live from the august Melbourne Club.
This event is a fundraiser to help keep Vitalstatisix making art (and trouble) in Port Adelaide and for the international solidarity work of the National Trouble Makers Union.
