Alexis has worked as a dancer, choreographer, performer, writer, theatre-maker and filmmaker over the past 20 years. As a Birri Gubba, Wakka Wakka and Kanak woman, Alexis is passionate about First Nation people’s voices as well as the stories of people with disability and people from diverse backgrounds.
The Shopfront Studio artist-in-residence invites a selected artist to inhabit our Shopfront Studio (once a workers’ cooperative bank at the Waterside Workers Hall) developing their own projects and practice, engaging in a range of discursive and creative tasks with Vitalstatistix, and acting as an ambassador for Vitals, particularly in Port Adelaide.
In 2018 we are thrilled that our artist-in-residence is Alexis West.
