My Hair is Thinning is a new documentary theatre work about hair regrowth, navigating grief, and learning to make peace with things that feel irreconcilable: genetics, death, and the incongruity of who we fall in love with. Creating a thorny portrait of what it means to piece a life back together, this is a generous, darkly funny, and heartfelt meditation on yearning.
The show will braid together three narrative strands from writer Anthony Nocera’s relationship with his fiancé Jamie, who passed away unexpectedly in late 2022. In development with director Clara Solly Slade and emerging South Australian performance collaboration Kinetik Collective, the artists will use Adhocracy to explore the form, language and liveness of the work which combines theatrical memoir, performance lecture, soundscape technology, and non-fiction essay.
