CHRIS SCHERER born South Australia 1985, is a Berlin-based cross-disciplinary artist and a graduate from AC Arts, Adelaide. Chris makes accessible, topical, image based work using collision and fusion processes of performance and presentation. He is a rule-breaker who rejects the boundaries of traditional art forms, ensuring his audiences have memorable, personal and unique experiences.
Chris has worked internationally, including Australia, Germany, Netherlands, Israel, Thailand, UK, France, Brazil, Morocco, Russia, Portugal, Switzerland, Greece and Italy, as a freelance performer and collaborator in diverse artistic mediums. Over the past five years he has been working intensely with both the dance theatre company TOTAL BRUTAL / Nir de Volff as a company member and the visual artist Tino Sehgal as an interpreter and manager.
Chris’s career highlights include an Australian Dance Award for Best Dance on Film (2009) for If the Shoe Fits, his dance theatre solo show Pickled (2010 – 2012), This Variation at dOCUMENTA 13 by Tino Sehgal (2012 -present) and Never Forever by Falk Richter/ TOTAL BRUTAL (2014 - present) at Schaubühne am Lehniner Platz. Chris performed in Torque Show’s Madame: The Story of Joseph Farrugia, premiered by Vitalstatistix and State Theatre Company of SA in 2015.
